On Friends
I was so bored and sick and sleepy last night. Nevertheless, I managed to catch the episode of Pinoy Big Brother anyway. It was one of the housemates named Bob who bade goodbye since he was forced to be evicted out of the house. It was surprising because he was loved by his housemates, after all.It also showed videos how his housemates reacted when they thought that he will leave the house without saying goodbye. I was surprised to see Nene, the boyish housemate who cried while telling Big Bro that she will be missing Bob. I was moved when she said these words, "Minsan na nga lang akong mag-open up sa ibang tao, bakit sa ganitong paraan pa siya aalis?Mawawala na siya sa akin.... Sabi nila, pusong bato ako. Pero tao rin naman ako..."
It dawned upon me how I valued my friends and how friends have valued me.
Before I used to believe that a great person can be measured by the number of friends he has.
He is loved and well-liked, thus he keeps a number of friends.
But through the years, I learned that not all friends are worth keeping.
They may be good at you. But later they may get back at you.
You may be there for them in good and the bad times. In good times, it feels great to celebrate with them. But when you need help, they shun themselves away from you.
They may be nice because they use you.
And it takes experience to realize that.
As the day begins, I decided to keep a few and slowly stay away from the "bad" ones.
